Jungle
Imagine strolling through a lush jungle filled with brilliant Belizean butterflies
and exotic flowers! Sit on a bench near the waterfall, quiet, and a butterfly
might just land on your shoulder. What will it say?
  We
raise the butterflies you see at our jungle, so you will see every stage of the
transformation from miniscule egg through lowly caterpillar to miraculous jeweled
butterfly. You can observe some very bizarre behaviour like "mud-puddle clubs",
learn about butterflies' role in Belize’s rich ecosystem, and help us ensure there
are butterflies on our island forever!

 Releasing live Belizean butterflies at your wedding or special event is an indescribably unique experience which will capture special place in the hearts and memories of all those who attend.
According
to an Indian legend,
if you whisper your wish to a butterfly and then release it, the Great Spirit,
in gratitude for freeing the butterfly, will always grant your wish.
Watch in wonder as a dozen or a hundred live butterflies ascend into the
sky with your wishes.

Butterfly Gardening
Visit
our greenhouse filled with lush jungle plants and outlandish flowers and learn
all about attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden.
You'll find
plants that butterflies and hummingbirds love: lantana, banana, heliconia, passionflower,
hibiscus, milkweed and many other exotic flowering plants , interspersed with
lush jungle foliage. We find the most attractive varieties of these plants, in
hopes that more local gardeners will plant Butterfly & Hummingbird gardens so
these delightful creatures will stay on Ambergris forever. Belizeans,
you can buy seeds and plants to turn your yard into your very own butterfly jungle.
Both nectar plants for adult butterflies and host plants for hungry caterpillars
are offered. Plant several of each and you’ll have clouds of butterflies at your
door!
Education This
is the real reason we built the Butterfly Jungle! To see the look of enchantment
on the face of a child watching a butterfly emerge from its crysalis is a wonderful
experience. It is our hope that by educating the children about the unique lifecycle
of butterflies, we can draw attention to the environmental issues which threaten
the special beauty of our island home. Children are the future of Ambergris Caye.

Half
the proceeds of our live pupae sales will go toward building butterfly/caterpillar
habitats in our local schools, and providing educational materials so our children
can experience the magic of metamorphosis, be inspired with love and curiousity
about our unique habitat here in San Pedro, and gain a greater appreciation
of Science & Nature.

Morning Enchantment Package
Bring a breath of magic into your morning - Watch the sun rise as a butterfly
is born! A ready-to-emerge pupa mounted on a host plant seedling or a driftwood
branch will bring the enchantment of transformation to your breakfast table, as
